A baroque hairpin, dating from around 1680, illustrates the exquisite craftsmanship of the era. Made of 14-carat yellow gold, this piece features the timeless motif of the dove, symbol of peace and the Holy Spirit. Adorned with eight rose-cut diamonds and a central pearl, all flanked by rhinestones imitating rubies and emeralds, it embodies love and harmony. The back of the pin, added later, reflects the evolution of the jewelry's history. This piece embodies the symbolic richness and opulence characteristic of the baroque aesthetic.

Style specifics
Baroque is an artistic and decorative style that developed shortly before 1600 and remained common in Europe until the emergence of the Rococo style around 1730. Born in Italy, it spread to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Only a more or less classical version was popular in France under Louis XIV. This style, stemming from the Renaissance, is characterized by lively, curved, and exuberant forms, vigorous movement, and rich ornamentation inspired by classical sources, symmetrical as opposed to the asymmetry of the Rococo style that succeeded it.

Theme
Dove – After the Second World War, the dove became the symbol of peace. The dove, sometimes depicted with an olive branch, is an early Christian symbol meaning "Rest in peace." It also symbolized the Holy Spirit. The dove was the attribute of many saints. A pair of doves is known as the symbol of love and harmony. In China and Japan, a pair of doves is an emblem of longevity and faith.
