Breguet wins the 25th edition of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2025
Dive into the heart of the most prestigious watchmaking ceremony The 2025 “Oscars” of watchmaking delivered their verdict at this exceptional event: the 25th anniversary of the GPHG!

The GPHG: the unmissable watchmaking event of the year
Having become the premier event in the sector, the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) acts as a barometer of trends, innovations and talents. While some regret the presence of powerful groups at the expense of independent artists, this institution remains a powerful lever for visibility and global influence For winning brands - the perceived value of an award-winning model usually skyrockets as soon as the results are announced.
Context of the GPHG 2025
The 25th GPHG celebrated in a memorable way the excellence and creativity that drive watchmaking contemporary. This anniversary edition was held in the sumptuous setting of the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva.
Among the most memorable moments was the crowning of Breguet, honored with the prestigious Aiguille d'Or for its Classique Souscription 2025, marks a resounding institutional comeback and claims a prominent place in the current watchmaking scene. This choice by the jury, a true tribute to the heritage and innovation of the maison, echoes Breguet's centuries-old tradition while embracing the technical and aesthetic challenges of the 21st century, which is also celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, as we have detailed in a previous article.
This ceremony was not lacking in emotion: between the diversity of the winning houses, the expected economic impact for each winner, and the debates raised by the dominant presence of certain groups - notably LVMH - the 2025 event so confirmed the vitality of the sector that it initiated a reflection on its future balances.
And yet this year again, we observe a notable absence of several iconic watch brands such as Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, Breitling, TAG Heuer, Tudor or Seiko. For the most part, these actors prefer, for strategic and institutional reasons: cCertain brands, such as Rolex and Patek Philippe, adopt a highly selective and controlled communication strategy, favoring their own exclusive events and trade shows like Watches and Wonders, where they maintain complete control over their image and message. Others, such as Omega or Breitling, may feel that the GPHG framework doesn't always align with their sales calendar or brand strategy, preferring to launch their new products through channels better suited to their clientele or production needs.
While their absence raises questions, the competition remains of a high standard.and for this edition, the diversity of participants proved particularly stimulating for the sector.
