Victorian bracelet in 14-carat gold, with a celestial design featuring motifs composed of rose-cut diamonds, enamel, and a pearl.
In the center, a yellow gold dome is surrounded by a twisted rope-like motif. A milky white pearl of about 4 mm is set in the center, surrounded by six rose-cut diamonds in oblong and triangular shapes, held in place by delicate grain settings. The whole piece is framed by a hand-painted turquoise blue enamel star.
This mourning bracelet features, on the reverse of the dome, a compartment protected by glass. Mourning jewelry was fashionable in Victorian England after the death of Prince Albert, and allowed one to keep a memento of a loved one, for example in the form of hair in a locket or a portrait.
