A lovely hand painted Victorian enamel miniature portrait of a lady in a locket, surrounded by tiny rose cut diamonds on platinum. The locket measures 7/8 inches and has a concave design, with 14k gold and brilliant cut work on the surface. The figure depicted in the medallion is a lady with a powdered wig, an inclined gaze and a purple dress. The medallion dates from the 1880s, but the outline in platinum of rose-cut diamonds was added in the 1900s (the Edwardian era) to enhance the brilliance of this portrait miniature. The chain is white gold and is marked 14k. The chain measures 16 inches in circumference.
