This 14k gold and diamond winged insect brooch incorporates the 'en tremblant' movement, a Victorian jewelry element using a spring mechanism to enable the movement of the piece. 'En tremblant' means 'to tremble,' an apt description of the shimmering movement of the piece, very popular with French high society during the Victorian era, often used for tiaras and brooches. The spring is visible on this piece when viewed from the side, with the insect hovering above the brooch. The brooch is adorned with a magnificent Jewelry set of diamonds, rubies, and an emerald. The insect's wings are encrusted with rose-cut diamonds of varying sizes and shapes to fit perfectly inside: from tiny pointed diamonds at the tips to larger round and oval diamonds in the widest parts. The stones are carefully chosen and create a mosaic showcasing a magnificent selection of antique diamonds. The brooch is made of 14-karat gold, but the wings are enhanced withsilver to highlight the white of the diamonds. The insect's thorax is a bezel-set green emerald cabochon, and the eyes are composed of bezel-set rubies. This piece, which comes to life with a trembling movement, is magical.

The brooch is adorned with 40 natural antique rose-cut diamonds, ranging in clarity from VS2 to I and color KM. Clear and sparkling, they catch the light beautifully; their multiple shapes create interesting faceted reflections. Rose-cuts are traditionally finer, so it is more difficult to calculate their weight, but the piece contains at least 2.5 carats of diamonds. The brooch is also adorned with two natural antique rubies and one emerald.

The coin has been acid tested for 14 karat. It measures 1 3/16" x 1 3/16" and weighs 7.85 grams.
