Art Nouveau brooch "Allegory of Spring," branded Vernier.
18k yellow gold brooch composed of a round medallion in relief depicting the profile of a young woman facing right, lightly draped, wearing a crown of flowers — most likely an allegory of Spring. The medallion is flanked by two three-leaf clovers, lucky motifs characteristic of the Symbolist vocabulary of the period.
The monogramme VE is engraved on the medallion, corresponding to the signature of Émile Séraphin Vernier (1852–1927), a Parisian painter and medallist renowned for his female portrait medallions, frequently adapted into jewelry during the Belle Époque.

The piece can be worn easily on wool, a collar, or a ribbon — typical uses for this brooch format during the Belle Époque.
