Universal Genève Uni-Compax, ref. 22551, circa 1945.
Superb Universal Genève Uni-Compax chronograph in steel, reference 22551, dating from the mid-1940s.
Its 36 mm case offers particularly elegant proportions, characteristic of the large Universal Genève chronographs of this period, with long sculpted lugs and rectangular pushers.
The original silvered dial, enhanced by a beautiful natural patina, features applied gilt hour markers and Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock. The two sub-dials are complemented by an elegant outer blue tachymeter scale and a blued central chronograph hand.
The watch is powered by the Universal Genève caliber 287, a manual-winding mechanical movement equipped with a column-wheel chronograph, an architecture particularly prized by collectors. The movement and case are branded. The case back bears the reference 22551 as well as the serial number 1183879.
The watch has benefited from a complete mechanical service by a watchmaker specialized in vintage watches and is in perfect working order. It comes with a 12-month warranty.
