Tiffany & Co. enlisted the renowned architect Frank Gehry to create a jewelry line launched in 2006. Known for his avant-garde, curvilinear buildings, Gehry brought a similar aesthetic and architectural spirit to his jewelry line. These 18K gold earrings are a version of hoops, with a twisted line. Seen in profile, the hoops appear slightly square, but viewed from the front, the twisted line is revealed and displays beautiful facets where the gold twists, strongly recalling Gehry’s architectural creations. The large hoops have a substantial presence, and their design beautifully catches the light.
Frank Gehry designed many acclaimed postmodern buildings, including the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Born in 1929, he rose to prominence in the 1970s and is considered one of the most important contemporary architects. After his recent passing in 2025, owning a piece of jewelry by Frank Gehry is especially meaningful and can be worn as a tribute to his innovative creations.
The earrings measure 1” x 1”, with a width of 2.68 mm. Together, they weigh 10.27 g. Both earrings are marked 750, Tiffany & Co, with the copyright and Frank Gehry’s signature. The 18K gold backs are replacements that fit well, but are not Tiffany & Co. backs. The backs are marked 750. Delivered with a Tiffany & Co. pouch.
