This Tiffany & Co. bracelet in 18-carat gold, designed by Elsa Peretti, is composed of nine strands of wire that seamlessly connect in a fluid shape reminiscent of ocean waves. The strands are flexible and slightly compressible, giving the bracelet some movement, and the wavy bands seem to shift as they wrap around the wrist. Although the strands are delicate, the width of the bracelet gives it real presence. Known for her love of the natural world and her nature-inspired creations, Elsa Peretti captures the essence of the sea in this iconic bracelet.
Elsa Peretti began her career as a model in Barcelona in the 1960s before moving to New York, where she became close to designer Halston. In the early 1970s, she was creating jewelry for Halston; in 1979, she was the lead designer at Tiffany & Co., bringing a fresh and sensual perspective to her mostly silver jewelry. Elsa was a great beauty and was part of the Studio 54 club scene, alongside Halston, Andy Warhol, and Liza Minelli. She is a fashion icon and has been called the most accomplished woman to have worked in the jewelry industry.
