A deep purple amethyst cabochon almost entirely dominates this pendant. The highly domed oval stone is set in a refined gold mounting whose understated lines highlight the color and volume of the amethyst.
Style and period: the understated mounting, the sturdy prongs, and the remarkably long, straight bail correspond very well to jewelry design of the 1970s. Large colored gemstones, refined gold forms, and sculptural proportions characterize this period.
Materials and gemstones: made of 750 yellow gold (18 carats). Set with an amethyst cabochon of approximately 27 ct.
Condition and restoration: the jewel has been carefully appraised and delicately restored. The mounting, bail, joints, and setting have been checked to ensure their stability and secure hold; the surface of the gold has been carefully cleaned and refreshed without altering the character of the piece.
How to wear and pair: thanks to its large cabochon, the pendant has a strong presence while retaining a refined design. It can be worn equally well on a simple gold chain or on a longer chain that echoes its vertical shape.
Dimensions and size: stone with mounting approx. 26.5 × 17.5 mm; bail approx. 16 mm long. Total weight: 9.32 g.
