This 14K gold keystone-shaped pendant can be attributed to the Royal Arch Masonry chapter of the Freemasons. It is finely hand-engraved and features very high-quality black and white enameling.
On the back, the name "William A. Fish" is engraved, as well as the date February 28, 1896 and the city of Red Bluff, California, where a Masonic chapter is still active today. The details of this piece are unique: it catches the eye with its meticulous character. An "F" is engraved in the center, inside a pyramid surrounded by radiating lines. The black enamel forms leafy scrollwork patterns, with swirling lines inlaid with a remarkable level of detail.
The pendant is rich in Masonic symbolism. It is shaped like a keystone, the stone at the top of an arch that gives it its structural strength and supports the entire arch. The keystone is worn as the mark of a high fraternal order. It is generally seen accompanied by the letters HTWWTKS, meaning "Hiram The Widow’s Son Sent To King Solomon." This is a reference to the legend of Hiram, an architect who defended Solomon’s Temple against evil. "R.A.M.", engraved on the back of the piece, is an abbreviation for Royal Arch Masonry, the highest degree of Freemasonry.
- Weight: 12.32 g
- Keystone dimensions: 1” x 1 1/8”
- Bail: adds 1/4” to the height
- Bail opening: approximately 4 x 6 mm
This is a special piece, imbued with an air of mystery. It is both beautiful and esoteric, and makes a unique and meaningful piece of jewelry to wear.
