Victorian 10K gold oval locket pendant, featuring a moose head in low relief, its face turned skyward as if in mid-call. The sculptural moose displays majestic antlers, with a diamond set as the eye, adding a beautiful sparkle.
The 10K gold has a matte finish with a lovely patina, highlighting the antique character of the piece.
Around 1890, the piece was originally a cufflink, converted into a pendant by removing the back and adding a 14K gold bail. The emblem belongs to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE), a fraternal order founded by a group of actors and entertainers in 1868. The original Cufflinks were made by Mr. Hammerslough, jeweler in Anaconda, Montana.
