Ce charm/pendentif a été réalisé à partir d’un bouton des années 1920 utilisé comme moule, puis coulé en or 14K.
Le bouton présente un motif Egyptian Revival : une déesse est représentée portée sur un palanquin ou un char à franges, d’allure canine. Elle tient un orbe devant elle, peut-être pour éclairer le chemin, et elle est entourée de hiéroglyphes, d’un oiseau et d’yeux. La forme « ingot » est entièrement occupée par les éléments du décor, et la pièce est riche en symbolisme et en cryptographie, avec une texture suggérant une découverte provenant d’un tombeau.
Le bouton Egyptian Revival utilisé comme moule appartient à la troisième vague de l’Egyptian Revival, qui a prospéré dans les années 1920 après la découverte du tombeau du roi Toutânkhamon. Les vagues précédentes de cette tendance ont eu lieu dans les années 1840 puis dans les années 1890, à chaque fois en réponse à la mise au jour de trésors égyptiens. Les découvertes archéologiques des années 1920 ont remis cette tendance à la mode.
