Antique gold heart pendant silver diamonds

Flemish heart pendant in silver, gold and diamonds. It features in the lower part an openwork heart formed of scrolls holding in its center a mobile part set with a pear-shaped diamond cut in rose. The whole is paved with diamonds set on paillon. The upper part represents a torch and a bow and arrows. The Flemish heart is a typical jewel of the 17th and 18th century in Flanders. The Flemish heart is first and foremost a jewel of sentiment. The torch represents the passion of love just like the bow and arrows which are the attributes of Cupid and the scrolls which are a symbol of fertility. It is also a religious jewel traditionally offered on August 15 for Saint Mary. Finally, this jewel is the reflection of a social status as it is associated with the Flemish merchant bourgeoisie. Flemish work from the second part of the 18th century (1750/1780). Historical hallmarks and swan hallmark for works in silver second-hand.
