Jewelry set in 18 kt yellow gold and silver (hallmarks: eagle's head and owl), consisting of a drapery necklace, a pair of drop earrings, and a ring, the whole entirely adorned with coral beads and pendants. Some of the coral beads and pendants are set with rose-cut diamonds.
Sold with a case from the Parisian maison widow Gueudet.
French work from the 19th century, circa 1880.

Condition: slight micro-scratches and oxidation on the gold and silver parts, slight abrasions to the stones, see photos.
Coral, although organic in nature, is a material as precious as a gemstone: its growth is very slow, and red coral like this has been prized for millennia. It comes mainly from the Mediterranean Sea, where it lives in shaded rocky habitats between 5 and 700 meters deep.
