We present to you a pair of antique coral earrings, as well as a matching ring, all set in 14-carat gold. This is a very long pair of earrings dating from the mid-19th century and originating from the Italian region of Abruzzo.
It was very likely a wedding gift. Coral was, and still is, considered a lucky charm for life and marital protection. The large Mediterranean red corals in drop or oval shapes are all faceted, an ancient finishing technique used in Abruzzo.
As for the ring, it should be noted that it is very rare to find these elements together. The large bead is called a "mirror bead." It dates from the mid-19th century and comes from the Abruzzo region.

The goldsmith's hallmark is engraved on the hooks. Coming from a Florentine family collection, these jewels are in good condition despite their age.
