In 1969, the Speedmaster Professional went to the Moon. In 1977, Omega took a radical turn: reference ST 186.0004 was launched with the 1620 quartz caliber featuring an LCD display, the only quartz Speedmaster ever housed in the iconic Moonwatch case.
Produced for only 18 months, from late 1977 to 1979, this reference was removed from the Omega catalog almost as quickly as it entered it.
An exceptionally short production window that explains its rarity today.
The 36 mm steel case is identical to that of the mechanical Speedmaster of the period. The black LCD display shows the hours, minutes, seconds, date, day of the week, and chronograph functions.
