This Movado baignoire ref. 275-099 is a refined example of mid-20th-century watch design, with an oval and slightly elongated “baignoire” shape, crafted in 18K white gold, characteristic of the period and comparable in spirit to the Cartier baignoire. It is among the first models produced by Movado after its merger with Zenith and Mondia in 1969.
This piece is particularly difficult to find, especially in this configuration with an artificial lapis-lazuli style dial. To our knowledge, only two examples fitted with this dial have appeared on the market: the present watch and another example cased in yellow gold.
The watch is powered by a manual-winding Movado caliber from one of the brand’s most respected periods, and is offered with its original strap as well as its original branded buckle, an increasingly rare detail that is highly sought after by collectors.
The 18K white gold case measures approximately 26 mm x 41 mm, offering a presence on the wrist that is both slender and assertive. This example stands out for its precious metal case and the expressive treatment of its dial.
