Margot von Voorhies Carr, commonly known as Margot de Taxco, is a designer known for her high-quality silver sterling jewelry. Born in the United States, Margot left San Francisco for Mexico in 1937. There, she met and became friends with Antonio Castillo, with whom she traveled to Taxco, a Mexican city renowned for the design, craftsmanship, and production of jewelry, silverware, and objects in silver. Castillo would later become her second husband. She then established her own workshop in 1948 and is known for her enameled pieces. She is an important figure in the Taxco jewelry movement. Margot's work was heavily influenced by Japanese art, pre-Columbian pieces, Mexican design, as well as by the Art Deco movement.
