These 22k gold Lalaounis earrings are a classic example of the designer's figurative pieces. Crafted from high-karat gold, they depict a bull's head extending into a tapered spiral.
The earrings are adorned with granulation and twisted wire around the bull's head and face, as well as a looped motif echoed in the spirals and in the granulation around the bull's collar. The bull is expressive, with a soft and endearing face. The 22k gold has a gentle patina that gives it a beautiful matte glow. The earrings are handmade, including the hand-twisted filigree, which makes the details of the bull and the cannetille even more impressive.
Ilias Lalaounis is a Greek designer and represents the third generation of a family of goldsmiths. A history enthusiast, his creations often reference ancient pieces and offer a sophisticated interpretation of Greek revival.
The earrings are made of 22k gold, except for the back part of the clip system, which is in 18k gold, as 22k gold is too soft for this use. The back of the clip features a lovely heart shape, a detail that illustrates the attention to finishing in the work of Lalaounis. The earrings are in excellent condition, with a few very small indentations on one of the spirals, not visible when worn. They are stamped 22k and bear the maker's mark Lalaounis.
