These 14K gold earrings feature ancient coins struck in Jerusalem in 42 AD. The coins were minted during the reign of Herod Agrippa I, grandson of Herod the Great, who ruled over all of Israel and northern Transjordan.
The obverse of the coin depicts three ears of wheat, representing the third generation of the Herodian dynasty. Having two coins as a pair allows you to observe striking variations (one coin is centered, the other slightly off-center). The coins display a patina reminiscent of moss, highlighting the dark metal designs against a rust-colored background.
The reverse of the coin is visible through the setting and shows part of the fringed umbrella motif present on the back of these coins.
The coins are bezel-set in a 14K gold mount. The back of the mount includes a wide bar that holds the coin in place and allows for the presence of a post. Large 14K gold clasps stabilize the earrings on the ear.
