Hamilton Cushion Watch, 1927
Wristwatches began to appear in the late 19th century and by the early 20th century there was much debate over the use of wristwatches versus more traditional pocket watches.\n\nThe First World War II demonstrated that wristwatches were far more practical than pocket watches and the first generation of "trench watches" was born. These were often smaller pocket watch movements installed in modified cases.
Hamilton's first wristwatches were size 0 movements in a cushion-shaped case (like a seat cushion). These watches used a 17 jewel 981 movement and are a nice sized watch even by today's standards.
They are quite rare and usually cost a lot when sold.
