Large 14K gold fob adorned with undulating snakes twisted into a lover's knot. On each side, a mirrored image of a snake's head with an open mouth extends into a snake's body that intertwines. The bodies of the snakes are hand-engraved with tiny scales. The snakes are framed by other scrolling plant motifs; together, they create a lace-like effect. The base is hand-engraved with a repeating vegetal pattern, reminiscent of classical Greek columns.
The underside features a thin slice of carnelian, transparent enough to reveal the orange marbling of the stone and the glow of light passing through. The carnelian has never been engraved, offering the possibility for it to be carved by its next owner, or left as is.
