Victorian era ring in 14-carat gold. Originally, a ring with a circle of diamonds surrounding a central sapphire; an outer circle of graduated sapphires as well as engravings were added to transform the piece into a distinct eye shape. The design is inspired by the "evil eye," a near-universal symbol of protection dating back to Classical Greek antiquity.
The diamonds, lively, are old mine cut and original to the piece. There are 8 diamonds in total, each measuring about 2.5 mm, for a total weight of 0.25 ct. The diamonds form a circle around the central sapphire, which measures 0.5 mm. The outer crown of graduated sapphires varies in size, from 1 mm to 2.5 mm in diameter. There are 18 graduated sapphires in total, for a total weight of 0.5 ct of sapphires.
The ring is size 7 3/4 and weighs 13.2 g. The widest part measures 11.3 mm and the narrowest part measures 4.7 mm. An engraving inside bears the first name "Joe."
The design retains its Victorian era charm while being recontextualized into something new. A unique piece, ideal as a gift or to enrich a jewelry collection.
