Classic motif from the Edwardian era, this 14k gold pendant features flowing lines and delicate workmanship. At the center, a natural sapphire of a beautiful shade of blue is claw-set with six talon prongs. It is surrounded by a symmetrical design with cascading lines, enhanced with seed pearls. Three elongated, organically shaped Mississippi River pearls are suspended from the bottom of the pendant. At the top, the original bail is adorned with a grain-set pearl and is integrated into the pendant's design. The antique gold has a beautiful patina and the pendant offers lovely movement. Handmade piece circa 1910. It is suspended from a delicate Italian 14k gold belcher link chain.
The antique natural sapphire measures 6 x 4.5 mm. The largest of the antique natural Mississippi River pearls measures 5.6 x 4.5 mm. The antique natural seed pearls measure from 1.25 to 2.5 mm.
The pendant measures 1.5” x 0.75”. The chain measures 16”. Together, the pendant and chain weigh 3.45 g. The pendant is not hallmarked; the chain is hallmarked 14k and Italy.
