This 14K gold necklace, branded Ed Wiener, features a sculptural wave shape that elegantly hugs the collarbone. At the center, a pearl is nestled in a small chevron, placing it perfectly along the collarbone. The necklace is articulated, with small bead details, and closes with a shepherd hook clasp.
Ed Wiener was a modernist jeweler who began his career in Greenwich Village in the 1940s and remained active until the late 1980s. He was known for his modernist forms, abstract expressionism, and Bauhaus influences. He mainly worked with silver before becoming interested in gold after a significant trip to India and France in the 1960s. Since this necklace is made of gold, it would likely date from the late 1960s or the 1970s.
