The “4Cs” rule: the grading and price of a brilliant diamond are determined by 4 evaluation criteria: weight (carat), cut, clarity, and colour.

The first C (carat): the weight is expressed in carats (1 carat = 0.2 gram).

The second C (clarity): indicates the degree of purity, judged by the presence or absence of internal and external characteristics. The best quality is called “loupe clean,” which means there are no inclusions when viewed under a loupe (10x).

The third C (colour): they are graded on a scale of 23 shades, from icy white “D” (colorless) to warm tones “Z” (tinted white). Diamonds exist in all colors, but some colors are considered exceptional, such as red, blue, and pink.

The fourth C (cut): the cut is very important for the brilliance of the stone. The cut consists of three distinct parameters: proportions, symmetry, and polishing.
