Single-button pocket chronometer of Viennese manufacture, signed Julius Haffner, official supplier to the k.u.k. Kriegsmarine (Imperial and Royal Austro-Hungarian Navy), dating to the late 19th – early 20th century.
The chronometer features a high-quality white porcelain dial with excellent legibility.
On the outer ring is the second counter up to 60, printed in black, with well-defined markings.
The measurement of seconds is entrusted to a blued steel central hand with a crescent-shaped tail.
At 12 o'clock is a small minute subdial, with a scale graduated up to 30 minutes, a typical solution for chronometers intended for technical and military use, especially naval.
The overall design of the dial reflects a functional and rigorous approach, aimed at precision and speed of reading, essential features for professional use in the Austro-Hungarian Navy.
