Around the 1970s, this 14-carat gold necklace revisits a jewelry-making technique from the World War II era called "tubogas".
A hollow and flexible tube, made up of interlocking gold links, gives it a springy quality while remaining comfortable to wear. The necklace is worn close to the neck, or can be doubled and worn as a bracelet. It features a hidden box clasp with a double tongue that disappears when closed, for a continuous gold line effect.
The tubogas was popular in the 1930s, as it made it possible to create beautiful jewelry with limited resources by using hollow gold tubes to form elegant pieces. The technique was brought back into fashion in the 1970s by designers such as Bulgari and Weingrill. This 1970s piece is an original addition to a jewelry collection.
