Negligee necklace Art Deco in platinum set with diamonds.
This necklace is adorned with 8 old-cut diamonds and 16 rose-cut diamonds. Two of the old-cut diamonds are described as "dancing," trembling diamonds, meaning they oscillate slightly when handled. The diamonds are suspended from articulated drops. All the diamonds are bezel-set.
The clasp bears the 750 hallmark for 18-carat gold, but the chain and pendant are made of platinum and a guarantee is provided in this respect.
At the time this necklace was made, platinum was the preferred metal, as its use in jewelry was recent and it was considered a mark of quality.
