We found a single Edwardian earring in its original 14K gold setting, and we loved its six-prong setting, with small claw-like talon prongs, which gives the impression that the diamond is floating. We removed the earring finding and added two interconnected jump rings to suspend it from an 18-inch 14K gold chain. The diamond is a beautiful, lively antique Old European Cut diamond, with the large facets characteristic of this cut. We deliberately kept the ring and setting delicate so that all the attention is focused on the diamond.
The antique natural Old European Cut diamond measures 5.5 mm and weighs 0.60 ct. Its color is H-I and its clarity is VS2.
The 14K gold chain measures 18 inches long and 1.2 mm wide. We added a ring so that the chain can be worn at 18 inches or 16.5 inches. The piece weighs 2.25 g. Marked 14K gold and Italy.
