Large organic pieces of salmon pink bamboo coral are at the center of this bold necklace. Purchased as part of a lot from an estate, the pieces have been strung with silk thread and a substantial 14K gold lobster clasp has been added. This necklace is ideal for summer or for creating a spectacular look that draws attention to the neckline.
The pink bamboo coral (
Keratoisis
sp.) used in this necklace gets its name from the fact that its segmented skeleton resembles that of bamboo plants. Sourced from the southern California coast, the coral in this necklace is not dyed and the coral's growth patterns are visible at the end of each piece. The natural coral is cool to the touch, with a satin finish.
The necklace measures 17 3/4 inches long, and the coral varies in width (most pieces measure about 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inches). The necklace weighs 0.77 lb. The lobster clasp is 14K gold. A row of four interconnected 14K gold jump rings creates a short chain at the end of the necklace, allowing it to be clipped in several places for varied lengths.
This necklace, with its almost tribal style, is perfect for a spectacular look that highlights the neck.
