Ring Art Deco in platinum, circa 1930, adorned with a deep and velvety blue step-cut octagonal sapphire, set in a refined geometric mount. The plaque is set with 50 rose-cut diamonds arranged in graduated rows, enhanced by a fine millegrain and an openwork gallery. The diamond-set shoulders taper to a thin band, drawing an elegant line on the hand. A compact and architectural jewel, discreetly modern, in good condition for its age.

Style
The Art Deco is an eclectic artistic and decorative style that originated in Paris in the early decades of the 20th century. Emerging in the 1920s, it lasted until after the Second World War. The term "Art Deco" became popular after the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, which marked the height of high-end modern style in Paris. Championed by the greatest creators of the decorative arts, such as fashion and interior decoration, Art Deco influenced all fields of design during the 1920s and 1930s, notably architecture, industrial design, and the visual arts such as painting, graphic arts, and cinema. At the time, this style was perceived as elegant, glamorous, functional, and resolutely modern.

Style specifics
Abstract patterns and geometric shapes are characteristic of Art Deco. This movement breaks with the pastel shades and organic forms of its predecessor, Art Nouveau, and incorporates influences from many early 20th-century styles and movements, such as Neoclassicism, Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, and Futurism. Its popularity peaked in Europe during the Roaring Twenties and continued in the United States into the 1930s. While many artistic movements are rooted in or driven by political or philosophical beliefs, Art Deco was purely decorative.
