French Victorian bar brooch in 18-carat red gold, dating from around 1900, adorned with a fly motif set with silver. The wings are paved with rose-cut diamonds and tiny senailles, while two cabochon sapphires form the body and rubies sparkle as eyes. A small pearl tip at the end of the bar adds a delicate touch and a charming vintage feel. Light, full of character, and surprisingly easy to wear.

Style
Victorian decorative art refers to the artistic style developed during the Victorian era. This period is characterized by an eclectic revival of historical styles and the introduction of intercultural influences from the Middle East and Asia into furniture, accessories, and interior decoration. Victorian design is often seen as having succumbed to a regrettable excess of ornamentation. The Arts and Crafts movement, the Aesthetic movement, the Anglo-Japanese style, and Art Nouveau all originated at the end of the Victorian era.

Diamonds
Eighteen rose-cut diamonds and senailles. A senaille is a simplified rose cut, a small diamond chip possibly with a few polished facets. We do not have the weight of the rose-cut diamonds or the senailles, which is common in our trade.
- All diamonds, regardless of size or shape, present in our antique jewelry and vintage are certified 100% natural by the IJGC laboratory.
Gemstones
Two sapphires
Two rubies. We have not checked whether they are synthetic, as this information has no impact on the value of this jewel. At that time, both natural and synthetic rubies were used, more for their effect than for their intrinsic value.
A natural pearl (?)
Birthstones
Diamond is the birthstone (or stone of the month) for April, sapphire for September, ruby for July, and pearl for June.
