Dating from the Victorian era, this French 18k gold chain alternates between a flattened elliptical link and a series of small round links. The elliptical links are openwork in the center, letting light through and creating sparkles. The effect was achieved by hand by cutting a bar in the center of the link, then bisecting it with a beaded bar that adds a raised texture. The links, of the paillette type, feature a matte patina that catches the light with a warm glow. The width of the links gives the chain a beautiful presence on the neck, while maintaining a gauge light enough for a feminine and elegant look. With a length of 18”, it falls just below the collarbone, enhancing the delicate aspect of the piece.
Weight: 9.9 g. Length: 18”. Widest width: 3/16”. The chain is stamped 18k. It comes from a longer chain that we divided in two; the original chain bore French hallmarks.
