Carved Opal Horse Head Pendant Vintage yellow Gold Round Brooch Animal
Elegant and finely detailed vintage carved opal pendant/brooch crafted in 14 karat yellow gold (circa 1960s to 1970s).
Carved opal measures 18mm x 16mm. The opal is in very good condition and free of cracks or chips. The opal is set upon an onyx base (25mm).
The opal exhibits a nice color matrix in natural sunlight with flashes of green, yellow, orange, purple, turquoise and red. Set upon a black onyx base the horse head takes center stage.
The entire process to carve an opal involves a high level of expertise in both gemstone carving and jewelry making, a time-consuming process the results in a miniature work of art. The pendant is fitted with a pin at the back to wear as a brooch.
The pendant is in very good original condition and was lightly cleaned and polished.

Size & Measurements: The pendant 28mm diameter (1.10 inches).
Metal & Hallmark: 14k yellow gold. The pendant is not hallmarked though it has tested positive for 14k gold.
