Cocktail ring branded Bulgari from the Piramide collection, crafted in 18-carat yellow and white gold, with a pyramid-cut blue topaz as the central element. The ring weighs 18 g and has a Ring size of 62 (FR) — a substantial piece designed to sit high on the hand and be noticed from afar.

The Piramide collection emerged from Bvlgari’s Roman workshops in the late 1990s, as part of the broader evolution of the maison toward bold, sculptural cocktail jewelry, at a time when the brand was redefining the appearance of colored stones in high jewelry. The collection’s signature gesture — visible in this ring — is the pyramidal shape: stones cut with a raised four-sided apex, rather than a conventional flat table or a rounded cabochon dome.

The optical effect resembles neither of those two alternatives. Light enters through the four sloping faces of the pyramid and refracts toward the apex from several directions simultaneously, producing internal flashes that shift continuously as the stone moves under the light. The cut is technically demanding: a pyramid-cut stone requires the symmetrical convergence of four polished planes meeting at a single point, with no tolerance for asymmetry, and it is used almost exclusively in high jewelry pieces by established houses.

The blue topaz itself is well chosen for this cut. Topaz has a high refractive index for a colored stone (1.61-1.64), which means the pyramidal faces work strongly: each plane redirects light efficiently rather than absorbing it. The color appears as a clear, saturated medium blue — the hue most associated with this species since Brazilian and Sri Lankan deposits became its dominant source in the second half of the 20th century.

The setting is the most architectural element. The pyramidal stone sits in a bezel setting formed by swirls of two-tone gold — yellow gold rising along one shoulder, white gold defining the other, the two metals interlocking around the stone in a characteristically Bulgari manner: heavy, geometric, and resolutely sculptural. The shank is fully rounded in polished yellow gold, with the maker’s marks struck inside. The combination of the pyramidal stone and the architectural setting makes the Piramide collection immediately recognizable to anyone familiar with the late 20th-century Bulgari vocabulary.

Bulgari, officially written BVLGARI in the style of the maison, according to the Latinized spelling adopted by founder Sotirio Bvlgari in 1884, is one of the founding houses of Italian high jewelry, established in Rome in 1884 and ranked among the most important jewelry brands in the world. branded Bulgari pieces in good condition retain their value strongly, and discontinued collections such as Piramide carry additional collector interest, as they are no longer produced.

This ring is presented in its original condition, with Bulgari signature, hallmarks, and the full structural integrity of the original casting. Ready to be worn — or to join a collection of late 20th-century branded jewelry from one of the great Roman houses.
