On the surface of the Signet ring, the night sky, more precisely the constellation Sagitta, is depicted using diamonds of different sizes.
On the inner part, the Japanese character ya (pronounced jah) has been engraved, meaning the aforementioned constellation, but also simply evening.
There are several myths about the person who shot this arrow and its target. This constellation has been known since Antiquity and was one of the 48 constellations described by Ptolemy. It represents an arrow from the bow of the mythological god of love, Eros, or an arrow with which Apollo defeated the one-eyed Cyclops giant.
Hyginus, however, believed that the Arrow was one of the arrows shot by Hercules to kill the eagle of the Caucasus that devoured Prometheus's liver. Another version claims that it was the arrow with which Hercules killed the birds of Lake Stymphalus during one of his twelve labors.
