Diamond floral brooch, circa 1840, illustrating the Romantic fascination with nature. The largest flower trembles delicately above curved stems and pointed leaves, catching the light with an old-cut diamond and a hundred rose-cut diamonds. Two substantial pear-shaped diamonds complete this graceful branch.

- Condition: very good condition, with wear consistent with age. The brooch fitting is a later addition, and the brooch was subsequently fully rhodium-plated.

- Style: Romanticism, expressed through a naturalistic floral motif composed of curved stems, pointed leaves, and a large open flower. The asymmetrical composition and the delicately articulated flower reflect the period’s taste for nature.

- Material: silver backed with 18K red gold, tested with a touchstone. The later rhodium plating gives the entire brooch a white appearance and conceals the original color contrast between the silver front and the red gold reverse.
- Technique: tremblant construction; the large flower is mounted so as to vibrate gently with the wearer’s movements, animating the diamond-set flower independently of the rest of the motif.
- Diamonds: one central old-cut diamond, estimated to weigh 0.50 ct, color H-J and clarity I.
