Almost like a small gold sculpture, this dragonfly is worked in relief right down to the wings and body parts. A saltwater pearl forms the soothing center, while two small rubies provide vivid touches of color as eyes.
Style and period: the naturalistic depiction of the animal, the relief goldwork, and the combination of the pearl with colored stones are characteristic of fine vintage figurative jewelry from the 20th century. The careful craftsmanship gives the dragonfly remarkable depth, even when viewed up close.
Materials and gemstones: made in 750 yellow gold (18 carats). Set with a saltwater pearl measuring 7 mm in diameter and 2 small rubies as eyes.
