Vers 1870, cette broche française présente une tourmaline rose centrale, flanquée de triangles sertis de diamants taille rose, le long d’une épingle horizontale en or 18 carats. La tourmaline, de forme ovale, est sertie clos ; c’est une pierre ancienne aux nuances rose poudré. Des triangles allongés rayonnent autour de la pierre, créant un effet de triangle dans le triangle. La forme intérieure est en platine, soulignant et renforçant l’éclat des diamants, sertis grain sur son pourtour. Le triangle extérieur apporte une profondeur supplémentaire à l’or, pour une épingle géométrique élégante et bien équilibrée.
La broche comporte un poinçon français non identifié, ainsi qu’une tête d’aigle, le poinçon français de l’or 18 carats. La tourmaline mesure 8,5 x 7,5 mm et pèse environ 2 carats. Les 10 diamants naturels taille rose pèsent au total 0,10 carat. L’épingle mesure 2 3/8” x 3/16” et pèse 6,2 g.
Le dos de l’épingle présente des traces de soudure provenant d’une réparation ancienne. Cette pièce se porterait très bien sur le revers d’une veste en jean ou d’un blazer en cuir.
