Antique floral brooch in gold and silver set with diamonds, of aristocratic origin, circa 1880.
A 19th-century diamond floral brooch, both elegant and highly decorative, designed as a graceful branch of flowers and foliage and crafted in gold with silver settings for the diamonds.
This elongated botanical composition is embellished throughout its length with old-cut diamonds.
Numerous rose-cut stones accompany the leaves and small floral elements, while larger old brilliant-cut diamonds form the central points of the composition. Their individually cut facets produce that softer, more nuanced play of light characteristic of antique diamonds.
The contrast between the gold and the silver is one of this jewel’s greatest strengths. The gold, with its warmer tones, provides the supporting structure, while the diamonds set in the silver bring depth and brightness to the entire floral motif.
Measuring approximately 7 cm in length, this brooch has a presence that is both graceful and imposing. The naturalistic arrangement of its stems, leaves, and flowers gives it a particularly refined silhouette when worn.
