Antique brooch in silver (hallmark: boar's head) representing a sword adorned with the inscription "IN HOC SIGNO VINCES," Latin for "by this sign, you will conquer," surmounted by a white enameled fleur-de-lis, surrounded by blue enamel and three button-shaped fine pearls (diameter approx. 4.9 mm).
Pearls accompanied by a certificate from the LFG (French Gemmology Laboratory) specifying natural saltwater pearls with no indication of treatment.
French work from the late 19th century, neo-Gothic style, by the Parisian jeweler Victor Dudiez (master's hallmark).

The sword: a characteristic theme of 19th-century neo-Gothic jewelry drawing its inspiration from the world of the Middle Ages.
In hoc signo vinces means: "by this sign you will conquer." It is a famous Latin expression dating from the Roman Emperor Constantine : in 312, during the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, he is said to have had a vision: this expression supposedly appeared mysteriously in the sky accompanied by the Chi-Rho (six-branched cross). The sign referred to in this expression is thus the Chi-Rho, a form of Christian cross.
