Old brooch cameo Minerva
Old brooch in 18k yellow gold decorated with a cameo shell in closed setting representing helmeted Minerva. The feathers adorning his helmet are actually a hissing dragon.
The execution of this cameo is superb, it is very finely sculpted and the variety of details is striking. The back of the jewel is even covered with a large plate of mother-of-pearl.
The clasp is pigtail, old-fashioned, without safety as was common in the 19th century, but very tight.
