Kirsten’s Corner has a great love for coral and organic shapes. As an artist, she was instantly drawn to the organic, freeform branches of this set of coral pieces, as well as their deep, saturated Sardinian red and highly lustrous shine. She envisioned crowned tops, reminiscent of the way coral is often finished in Italy, but we added diamonds and created a crown that follows the organic line of the coral. The diamonds are pavé-set in a rhythmic arrangement, and the crowns feature an antique black rhodium finish that makes the diamonds pop against the 18K gold.
The earrings have a traditional Shepard hook post and are mounted on a ring, giving the coral lots of movement. The combination of the organic shape and black rhodium creates a bold and sophisticated style, very striking.
The earrings contain approximately 0.7 carats of natural diamonds. The diamonds each measure about 1.25 mm.
Each earring has a unique shape and size, but the pair is well matched. One earring measures 1 3/8” x 1 3/4”, the other measures 1 1/8” x 1 1/2” (from the top of the crown to the bottom of the coral). The crowns echo the shapes of the coral and measure 7/16” x 5/16” and 3/8” x 1/4”. Together, the earrings weigh 12.54 g.
