Victorian ring composed of moonstone, diamonds, rubies, and cobalt blue enamel.
The central stone is a large high-domed cabochon moonstone, with a bluish sheen and marked opalescence. It is surrounded by calibré-cut rubies, each cut to fit around the dome of this stone. In each of the four corners are old mine cut diamonds, bringing light to the edges. The diamonds are bezel-set in white gold to extend the cool, light tones of the stones. The outer border features a vegetal scroll motif with deep cobalt blue enamel, and openwork between the halos of rubies and enamel. The blue enamel continues onto the sides of the ring with decorative elements. Scroll engraving descends onto the shank and along the base of the head. Circa 1880, some engravings on the side of the shank show slight wear consistent with age.
