This late Victorian yellow gold snake ring, dating to around 1900, coils around the finger in a richly sculptural design. One snake is set with a ruby, the other with a slightly yellow old European-cut diamond weighing approximately 0.70 ct, while tiny half seed pearls accent their heads. The richly engraved surfaces and fluid curves of the gold give the ring a character that is at once protective, mysterious, and typical of its period.
