Style and period: the central opal, the vertical axis with two small diamonds, and the symmetrically openworked ornamentation of the ring head recall jewelry from the 1930s and 1940s. The design combines decorative openwork, almost close to Art Deco, with softer curved lines. The ring thus suggests a transition between the geometric pre-war aesthetic and the more organic forms of the following decades.
