This marquise ring stands out for its airy design and remarkable goldsmithing. Crafted in 18-carat yellow gold, it features a textured structure that plays with light and volume. At the center, a blue-green synthetic spinel, marquise cut, is held by six wide, flat prongs. Around the bezel, a double row of twisted gold wires in a cord style creates a lace effect and accentuates the depth of the jewel. The shoulders split into several branches adorned with delicate twists, creating an openwork construction that supports the stone while maintaining a sense of lightness.
The central stone is a synthetic spinel produced by the Verneuil process, developed in the early 20th century. Highly prized between the 1920s and 1950s, it allowed for stable pastel shades, similar to aquamarine or tourmaline, without compromising brilliance. The marquise shape visually elongates the finger and captures the light with elegance. The whole piece evokes the retro style of the 1940s-50s, marked by bold volumes, generous use of yellow gold, and sought-after artisanal craftsmanship.
