This Georgian diamond ring, circa 1830, features rose-cut diamonds set on foil, with the dark, intimate sparkle characteristic of jewelry from the early 19th century. The warm yellow gold band joins a detailed silver head, adorned with seven natural diamonds arranged with discreet symmetry and antique charm. It is very likely of Belgian origin and is a delicate testimony to the Georgian period.
- Type of jewelry: ring.
- Condition: very good condition. The ring has very likely been re-shanked at some point.
- Country of origin: although it bears no legible assay mark, we believe it is of Belgian origin.
- Style: Georgian. In most English-speaking countries, the Georgian style refers to the styles in vogue between 1720 and 1840. Its name refers to the first four British monarchs of the maison of Hanover — George I of Great Britain, George II of Great Britain, George III of the United Kingdom, and George IV of the United Kingdom — who reigned successively from August 1714 to June 1830.
- Period: circa 1830.
- Materials: warm 18K yellow gold and silver details, tested with a touchstone.
- Technique: the rose-cut diamonds are set on foil, a technique used to enhance their luster.
- Diamonds: seven rose-cut diamonds. The diamond weight is not available, which is common for rose cuts. All diamonds in our antique and vintage antique jewelry, regardless of their cut or shape, are verified as natural by the IJGC laboratory.
- Hallmarks: no official hallmark. The piece is stamped “503”, very likely an internal maker’s or workshop number.
- Dimensions: width of the ring head 1.06 cm (0.42 inch).
- Weight: 5.00 g (3.21 dwt).
- Ring size: 64 (FR).
- Resizing: free of charge, except in cases of extreme modification.
